We welcome boys and girls aged 7 to 15 with any level of experience from the beginner to the rep level player. The participants are divided into separate camps based on age. Whether your son or daughter has interest in playing for their school’s basketball team, earning a spot on a rep team or they just enjoy the fitness aspect of basketball, our camp will certainly provide a fun and supportive environment for all.
Richmond Hill / Maple / King City / Markham, Ontario, Canada
Our Autumn, Winter and Spring Programs at our Maple and King City locations have both Junior sessions (ages 7 – 10) and Senior sessions (ages 10 -15). Participants that are 10 years old may choose either a Junior or Senior session.
Our Winter and Spring Programs at our Markham location will only have one session at a time. For these sessions, the ages will be 7 – 12.
Sessions are once a week for 8 weeks.
The cost is $275 + HST per session.
Daily Agenda
– 15 minutes of proper warm up, stretching and strength training.
– 30 minutes of teaching fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling and defense.
– 75 minutes of house league basketball games.

SUMMER CAMPERS WILL BE ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN BASKETBALL 6 HOURS PER DAY
Our summer camp will improve basketball skills, increase basketball I.Q. and promote physical fitness, all in a fun and supportive environment.
EMPHASIS ON
– dribbling drills – shooting drills – passing drills – defense/offence drills – progressive skill development – game strategies – REP development – the B.E.E.F. principle for shooting – physical fitness
GAMES & COMPETITIONS
– timed 2 and 3 point shooting – timed dribbling through an obstacle course – fitness challenges – animal the game – 3 on 3 continuous – coach challenges and coach scrimmages – Coach Says – 3 on 3 tournaments with prizes – dodgeball – and much, much more
DAILY SCHEDULE
– drop off is 8:45 AM* – lunch: 12 Noon to 12:20 PM – pick up: 3:00 PM * – Early drop off and late pick up is also available at a nominal rate. * For the week of August 8 to 11 drop off is 8:30 AM and pick up is 4:00 PM as it is a four day week.
What to Bring
basketball, appropriate gym attire, water bottle, healthy snacks (sorry no nut products) and lunch (full day participants).
One to One or Small Group Private Lessons/Training
Private small class sessions or one to one lessons are available in May, June, July or August with coach Shane, coach Ilea or coach Marty. Sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes or one hour.
Coach Marty, H.B.A., B.Ed, OCT, NCCP Level 1 Certified Canada Basketball Director of Camp / Coach:
Coach Marty has over 40 years experience as a coach at the elementary, high school, rep, provincial and national levels. He is a retired York Region District School Board high school teacher.
Head Coach – Markham Division:
Coach Noah
Coach Noah has played rep level basketball for 2 years, where he was the starting power forward. He also played and started on his high school basketball team. Coach Noah has been coaching basketball for the past four years, and he is a recent graduate from the University of Toronto’s Business Administration program.
Head Coach of the Senior Camp – King City Division:
Coach Shane
Coach Shane has played rep level basketball for the past 7 years, where he was the starting point guard. He played on his school basketball team for 5 years. This is Shane’s fifth year as a coach in our basketball program. He has played provincial level basketball and has been selected twice to represent Canada in a week long international basketball tournament in the United States. Coach Shane is currently attending Western University with the pursuit to graduate from the Faculty of Education.
Head Coach of the Junior Camp – Maple Division:
Coach Ilea
Coach Ilea has played rep level basketball for 3 years, where she was the starting centre on her basketball team. She played on her school basketball team for 6 years. She has coached at our March Break and summer camps for the past 5 years and has been selected to represent Canada in a week long international basketball tournament in the United States. Coach Ilea is in her Third year at Queen’s University in the Faculty of Education and will be a certified teacher in the next few years.

A full refund will be provided if our camp is cancelled due to Provincial COVID-19 Regulations. In the event that Public Health requires Red Hornets Basketball to group quarantine, then a refund for days missed will be provided. There will be no refunds given for any other Covid-19 related absences or any illnesses/injuries beyond our control. Non COVID-19 cancellations of entire sessions have a nonrefundable $50.00 administration fee. There will be no refunds or changes four weeks prior to the start of any program. There will not be any pro-rated refunds/credits and/or make-up days or partial make-up days provided for any days absent.
